I can't figure out what's wrong with her. I don't know if I should try to =
find a good ferret vet (they are harder to find around here-MN) or if I sho=
uld just try feeding her via the ckin baby food thing first. =
One thing to preface this is that I noticed about a month ago a hard "ball"=
at the end of her tail. It didn't seem to bother her-no signs of a sore o=
r trauma to have caused it??? so I dismissed it at the time. I now wonder=
if it is correlated in any way to this.
I have a little female albino ferret who is about two years old. She has b=
een perfectly healthy until a couple days ago. I lost her when I was clean=
ing the cage- I have three ferrets and they somehow nudged the door open(I =
thought it was shut all the way) and got into my sons room. They normally =
come to my calling for them, but onmly the two males did. She did not. I =
couldn't find her for almost 24 hours! I was frantic- I thought she had ma=
naged to get stuck somewhere or worse. Finally I lifted one of his pants o=
ff the floor to throw in the laundry and there she was...She looked the sam=
e but my feeling was somethings wrong. I dont know exactly why, but I just=
felt it. I put her into her cage with her friends and I checked on her th=
e next morning-she looked sick- like not all alert and perky like normal. =
When she walks her back end seems overly skinny (she's always been small to=
begin with) and not very strong. She's not eating-I've been giving her F=
erretvite from my finger and trying to give her water from my finger but sh=
e doesn't drink it. All this just in a day! =
What are the possibilities? What kinds of illness's can cause this? Did s=
he possibly get into something that could have poisoned her? I have ferret=
proofed very well, but my son is 17 and who knows what he has laying aroun=
d in his messy room.
Do you think I should try to find a vet the specializes in ferrets-or try h=
and feeding for awhile. My vet knows enough about them to give primary car=
e but not when it comes to them being ill. I don't know of special ferret =
vets in the area... I live in Coon Rapids, MN. Please advise. =
