Friends,
Hoping you can help with this.
My ferret Ramie started coughing intermittently this afternoon. It sounded=
almost like a duck quacking. He seems to have a short coughing spell every=
half hour or less often; it doesn't bother him very much; he can even slee=
p thru it.
Spoke to our vet; the ferret eats drinks and behaves normally, so he rules =
out anything caught in his throat. He concludes it is a tracheal irritation=
, either caused by a virus or by something he (the ferret, not the doctor) =
sniffed or swallowed. If it was a dog he'd call it kennel cough.
He said if i could find out what cough syrups are ok for ferrets, to give h=
im a little.
This ferret was in for rabies vaccination just 2 days ago; he spent quite a=
bit of time sniffing around the waiting room, so he could have been expose=
d to something there.
