i'm new to this list, and after cruising the past posts, i definitely know i'm in the right place, and i'm glad to be here. :)
my fuzzies lucy and gabriel have been very recently diagnosed with insulinoma at the age of almost 6, and will both be having surgeries soon, as they are good candidates. lu is on .2ml of pred, while gabe is on .3ml, along with duck soup, twice daily.
the duck soup recipe includes heavy cream substituted for sustical/ensure, and pet tinic substituted for ferretvite, to keep the sugar content low. are there certain treats we should als be removing from their diet? they like raisins, 8-in-1 stinky treats, ferretone, cheweasles and chew sticks, and have always had them *in serious moderation*. can we continue to give them these treats, or are there any we should completely discontinue? save for ferretone cuz, well, they won't take the cherry pred of doom without it. (once we use up the cherry pred, we'll be calling prescription specialties for a tasty chicken or liver flavor.)
thanx,
andrea
