Hi Leanne and all,
Recently someone reposted one of Dr Otten's
post on insulin for diabetic ferrets. I agree with him
that starting at 1 unit of insulin twice a day is better
than 0.1 unit. Most of the ferrets require more than 1 unit.
He also suggested that someone should check with Dr
James Fox about the type of insulin to use (ultralente vs
PZI vs NPH), so I did. Unfortunately he did not know. He
has not seen this problem yet. We still do not know why
these ferrets change from insulinoma (too much insulin) to
diabetic (not enough insulin). Hopefully we will have
better answers to this problem in the future.
