My youngest ferret, Giselle, who is all of eight
months old, went to the vet yesterday because she was
having trouble breathing. (I had thought it was just
an upper respiratory infection, but it didn't clear up
in a couple of days as those usually do.) The vet
suggests that it is either pneumonia or JL. Dr. YYY
took an x-ray and the lungs are really compressed into
the bottom of the chest cavity. Giselle is on amoxi
and baytril for two weeks to see if there is any
improvement.

I read the stuff in Ferret Central about JL, and
wondered if there's anything more that anyone can tell
me. Should I request a biopsy of one of her lymph
nodes? Are there any new treatments out there that
might give her a better chance?

I am hoping that it is pneumonia, but trying to get
prepared for the worst.

Thanks in advance,

Sara & Giselle
