I posted 2 weeks ago about my ferret dragging the left rear leg. The xray =
was neg., temp was 103.1 and he was put on Clavamox and torb. 2 days later=
all four limbs were red and swollen. My vet called Dr. Weiss and Penn for=
any thoughts. We switched to Baytril. The swelling decreased but he stil=
l couldn't use his limbs, but he was eating. Friday the 27th, he wouldn't e=
at and his temp was 98 so I took him in. They hooked him up to IV fluids w=
ith 5% dextrose as his bg was 49. Alight heart murmur was detected, but th=
e ultrasound was neg and a CBC was normal. I'm STILL waiting for the blood=
test results I sent to United last week. He had respiratory distress and =
was on O2 from Fri pm to Sat pm ( I didn't think he was going to make it). =
Then he turned around and began eating on his own. I brought him home Tues =
pm and I'm continuing the Baytril (1/4 tablet 1x/day). He's able to drag h=
imself around and the rear legs move somewhat. His temp tonight was 101.5.=
Maybe he was bit by a spider??? Any other thoughts? Are there K-9 carts =
for ferrets?? Thanks,
