Wednesday I noticed Moose a bit more alert, Thursday he got up on his hind
legs to beg for a treat ... decision made, He's making progress, he
hasn't had strength to lift himself up like that (only about an inch) in
weeks. So Friday am I called the vet and left a message that we were
coming in but not for Euthanasia. I also said lets give him a shot of
Lupron as I'm 98% sure he's adrenal on top of everything else
I get to the vet's office a few hours later. The receptionist says "He'll
be right with you, he's getting things ready." I thought, that's
strange, he's never had to get ready before. But then again I have no
experience with Lupron so it may require preparation.
The vet comes in with a syringe in his hand. The syringe is filled with
pink liquid. I thought, that looks an awful lot like what they gave Buster
when he crossed the bridge. Then the vet tech comes in with the clippers
and starts to plug them in ...I jumped up and said "Wait a minute, I don't
think you got the message about the change in plans!" That was a really,
really close call. If I hadn't been through the euthanasia process
before, I might not have even known. I may have thought that was Lupron
that they were giving him! Again What a close call!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His
stools are soft again, but I noticed less teeth grinding. He is on
Carafate again.
Moose put on 2 ounces, still really isn't eating on his own...I guess I'll
wait and watch a little longer. I am relieved that he showed me that he
wasn't ready. Thanks to all of you for your emails of support. And sorry
to cry wolf!
Amy
