Hello

I have my first ferret with adrenal disease. She is about 3 ? years old, =
a female, and weights about 2.3 lbs She received her first Lupron shot yes=
terday and around 2:30 pm. Unfortunately I left the vet slip there so I do=
not know the amount of Lupron she was given. She was fine last night, she=
ate and drank well. She did her =93business=94 just fine, but she was a li=
ttle tired. =

Of course she had already been up for at least 5 hours so I was not to conc=
erned. =

When she got up this morning, she seemed just fine as well. About 15 mins =
after she was up, she was playing and just stopped dead in her tracks. She=
started this hack/sneeze thing with her body jumping a bit for about 5 sec=
s and proceeded to throw up about a tsp. of white stuff. (her kibble is bro=
wn, or the baby food is orangish) She then just stood there for like 5-10 =
secs and then trotted off like nothing happen. I went to pick her up to c=
heck her out and she seemed just fine.

I then went to check her cage make sure that there was nothing in there fro=
m over night. I did not find anything and I took everything thing out and =
checked the bedding for any dried up spot. But found nothing. =

About 15 min later, the same thing happened. Only this time it was a bit m=
ore serve and lasted a little longer, 10 sec. hack/sneezing body jerk thin=
g and then projectile vomit, only about 2-3 inches, but it flew out. This =
time in
was a very light tan color. It took her 15-20 secs to recover from it this=
time. Then again, she was just fine. She went and drank some water and =
then proceeded to trot off and play. =

About 5 mins later she actually ate!! And has been happily playing ever si=
nce. =

I have already called my vet to question what is going on. But I am frankl=
y a bit at a lost. I have done a lot of reading on adrenal disease and Lu=
pron. Have read about some ferrets having reactions to it from either to mu=
ch Lupron or just a reaction. But they seemed to shortly after they had go=
tten the shot. Not like over 12 hours later. So any ideas as to what may=
be going on. I have never seen her throw up before. =

Also, something else that I did not come across in my readings that I found=
out yesterday, the hard way. I may have missed it, but just want to make=
sure that it is nothing out of the ordinary. I did not know that the shot=
s actually sting and cause some pain to the ferrets. I really did not like =
the fact that I did not know this before hand. I was not prepared for her =
to shreek!!! I understand why, now, the stuff is ice cold that they are s=
hooting into there little body, but man, I just wish I would have know ahea=
d of time. My vet said the she was sorry and thought I knew and said that t=
his was common. My vets are great, 2 at the clinic and both wonderful, so =
I am ok with that. I am just curious as to how common this is. Have a lot=
of you experienced this with your ferret as well? =

Any input or thoughts welcomed and greatly appreciated
