I have heard from many, many people that have their ferrets on Lupron, and I can't recall anyone mentioning a reaction to a Lupron shot. I think there was one out of hundreds that had a little redness in the area of the injection, but that's it.

That's not to say that what you are seeing is not from the Lupron injection, or that it can't happen, but it could simply be a coincidence.

I have been using Lupron for a number of years now, and I have never know Lupron itself to sting. But then my vet always warmed the Lupron first. I'm sure that a needle stuck in to inject anything can hit a nerve or sensitive spot and cause the reaction you saw and I can vouch for that!

When Penny got her last Lupron injection, it hurt BIG time. I always hold Penny for the vet because she is a bit of a nipper and if anyone is going to get bit, I would rather it be me. I was scruffing her, but I also had my left hand around her in front of her legs and around her chest and neck. Well, the vet must have really hit a bad spot because Penny screamed, clamped onto me and put her one remaining upper canine right through my thumb along side the nail. Man, there was blood everywhere. So yeah, I KNOW it can hurt sometimes, but this was the first time that I've experienced it.

The moral of this story is to scruff 'em and don't put your other hand within striking distance of their mouth when performing a procedure that could cause pain!
