Could this be a combination of upset stomach and/or ulcers (teeth grinding),
insulinoma (staring) and post-op pain? I am not a vet but I believe Carafate
can help w/upset tummies, Prednisone for the insulinoma and perhaps a
prescription pain med. to ease the healing process. Of course, proper
diagnosis would be the key to any medical regimen provided post-op.
For what it's worth, when my ferret had his spleen removed, there were no
post-op symptoms other than a pretty tired little ferret. Shaking, staring,
teeth-grinding, etc. just never occurred. From what I remember, a
spleenectomy is a fairly uncomplicated surgery with a good prognosis for an
otherwise healthy ferret. All I had to do was supplement his diet w/Pet
Tinic (vitamin/iron supplement) for a few days until his body recovered.
This surgery was a few years ago and, again, I am not a vet, so I could be
wrong all the way around. If so, I sure hope someone out there will correct
me.
Best wishes w/your little one.
