Not a silly question at all. I can tell you positively that your syringes don't say "mg" on them, but ml or cc. a cc (cubic centimeter) and ml (milliliter) are the same thing and are a measurement of volume. a mg (milligram) is a measure of weight and cannot be measured in a syringe.
