Ideally, it should be given 8-9 hours after sunrise. That would simulate the body's timing of the natural release of melatonin during the short days of fall/winter. Since 8-9 hours after sunrise usually lands it roughly smack in the middle of the afternoon, it can be difficult for many to meet that time table. Getting as close as possible is what you want to shoot for.
