I have been gone for awhile. I do not know what happened, I stopped receivi=
ng mail from FHL, and then I just found out about these smartgroups things,=
so I had to re-join the list. Some of you may be on the Ferret Realm, some=
may not. I have a very major concern and a minor concern, I will try to be=
brief. =

Shadow had an adrenal tumor removed on October 1 - her second adrenal remov=
ed. On Oct 4, very late friday / early saturday morning I noticed that Shad=
ow was slumping over to one side and could not stand up to go to the bathro=
om. I rushed her to the hospital, and she was loosing upper GI blood. Shado=
w has gone through 2 blood transfusions now, and is gradually getting bette=
r. She was going through kidney failure, but day by day she appears to be g=
etting better. She is now off the IV and Cathader, she is walking around on=
her own and doing ferret type things (burrowing and such), but she still n=
eeds to be fed and watered with a syrringe. The good news is that Shadow is=
gradually getting better and there is no more bleeding so far, so perhaps =
the second transfusion is sustaining her so that her body can reproduce the=
red blood cells she was losing. It is most likely that Shadow will be comi=
ng home after the weekend. The doctor has taken very good care of her for u=
s.

But my other concern is Meesha. He is a 3.5 yr old ferret, close to 3 pound=
s. He is a little irritated around his private area, and after he goes to t=
he bathroom there is some urine residue left in the area. At first I though=
t it was a puss like substance, and so did my wife. After I dabbed it off o=
f him, it was yellow, but looked a little thick. I don't know if this is so=
mething to be concerned about. He is not straining when he goes - it usuall=
y takes him 5-10 seconds to relieve himself and then he takes off. He is ve=
ry active most of the time - sometimes he likes to play the "I'm invisible"=
game. This might be mostly due to stress. We had to put Tigger to sleep on=
6/23, who used to be Meesha's sleeping buddy. Then, Meesha and Shadow were=
sleeping buddies, but now Shadow has been away for over a week. The signif=
icance of all this is that I don't know if Meesha is just experiencing stre=
ss, if there is some type of infection, or what is going on. As I said, Mee=
sha just acts completely normal - even when he urinates, but I am not sure =
if I should be concerned right now or not. =
