Hi Pam!

Usually 24-48 hours prior to delivery she should lose her mucous plug. It doesn't look like she should have too many, I had a jill this season look like she swallowed a softball and only had 10 babies all 13-14 grams at birth. I was afraid she was going to pop out 16!

Yes, you are right, most deaf jills usually kill or abandon their kits since kits crying is a trigger for her maternal instinct to kick in.

If you have any other questions, or would like my home phone number just in case you need some answers in the middle of the night, just email directly and I'll email it back. I have a new number since my move.

My youngest kits will be turning 2 weeks old on Thursday and I am a good 6 hours north of you. Sue Selby had some litters this season, she is in the Hampton VA area, but I am not sure if she still has any nursing jills. That's the only breeder I know of in southern Virginia...

Hope this helps and good luck!
