Subject: Foamy Fry/Pan update

A couple of weeks or so ago, I posted about my ferret Pan passing undigested
foamy fry in his stool, which is theoretically impossible (it happened a
second time as well, as Pan apparently had stashed some where I couldn't
find it). Here's an update. The very nice folks at Hyper-Fur, the
manufacturers of Foamy Fries, very kindly corresponded with me about this.
They had never heard of this happening in all the hundreds (probably
thousands) of ferrets who have eaten foamy fries, and their best guess was
that perhaps Pan has some kind of allergy to some ingredient in the fries.
Unfortunately the recipe for Cheweasels is pretty similar, so I guess those
are out for Pan too. I will say that even if my oddball ferret can't eat
their products, Hyper-Fur were a pleasure to talk with and showed real
concern and care about not only their product but also my ferret.
The allergy theory makes sense to me, because as I mentioned in my first
post, Pan came home from the petstore with runny stool, although none of his
cagemates had the same problem, and Seti didn't catch it from Pan once they
were living closely together. The runny stool cleared up in a week or two,
as I was shifting them off Marshall's kibble onto a mix of Totally Ferret,
Ferret Store Premium and Iams Kitten. So I speculate that perhaps whatever
Pan is allergic to in foamy fries is also present in Marshall's kibble, or
perhaps in something that the kits were getting at the store. Ultimately
the answer may be a mystery, but at any rate I know not to give him foamy
fries and to generally watch him when introducing any new edibles. It's too
bad, because the foamy fries seemed like a really great product, and he
certainly liked them!

Is that my business? Well, what is my business? Do I know? Did I ever
know? Lets not go into that. Youre not human tonight, Marlowe. Maybe I
never was or ever will be... Maybe we all get like this in the cold
half-lit world where always the wrong thing happens and never the right.
