I seem to recall reading something about this but now that I am looking for an answer can't find it.
I'm babysitting a friends ferret for the last 2 months. She's about 3-4 yrs. (very small). She shares space with my ferret. She's near perfect with the litterbox.
Today I observed something strange. She was sitting on a stack of books (it looked like she was urinating but I had already seen her go over to the pan). When I looked back she was lapping up liquid. I quickly realized that she had pee'd and was drinking it. She seemed to be eating & drinking fine before but its hard to tell with the two in the cage. Should I monitor her separately?
I'm not sure what to do now. This seems like very strange behavior and sounds like it warrants a trip to the vet. I don't want to wait too long if serious- but if its not then I can let her owner take her. I'm very worried about this.
What can this be a sign of?
