DELTA: I have taken my ferrets on Delta before. I had
a good experience with them. They allow you to take
one pet carrier on board. It can contain one cat, one
dog or two ferrets. Three carriers per flight are
allowed, so if you travel with 2 other people and
Delta has room, you can conceivably take up to 6
ferrets.
You make the reservation in advance and they will
confirm the reservation. Pay $60 at the ticket
countair the day of the flight. This price is EACH
way.
You need a certificate from your vet attesting to the
health of the animal completed no more than 3 days (72
hours) before the flight. The vet should have a copy
of the certificate to give you.
AMERICAN: Have not flown with a pet. Their policy is
first come, first served. They will NOT take a
reservation so if you get there and someone else
already checked in with a pet carrier, you are out of
luck. Never used them because I need to KNOW.
SOUTHWEST: No pets on board, but I know that before
things got tight, someone snuck one on board in a
backpack.
I usually just fly Delta when I need to take a pet.
It's easier and the people were very nice.
renee :)
