I have heard everybody saying that mast cell tumors are almost always benign. That is what the vet said but he said he didn't understand it because if they were benign, how come they keep coming back in new areas? Someone suggested that we do nothing since they aren't malignant but that won't get me anywhere. Whether it is cancer or not, she still has them and we have to do something to get rid of them or lessen them. So the vet put her on prednisolone, 1/4 of a tablet every day for 3 days and then every other day. He said we can raise it to 1/2 of a pill if we feel necessary. He said that the mast cell tumors are overproducing histamines which cause her to have an allergic reaction like this (I think that's what he meant, thats what I understood from it but I could be wrong) so the pred pills are to hopefully lessen her symptoms.
