After posting, I looked in my books, and it seems extraction is fairly
routine, and broken teeth very common. Neither book ("Essentials of
Ferrets" and "Ferrets, Rabbits, and Rodents") really says much more
than that about it. Sniffles did break an upper. Maybe it was the
lowers that have more complications?
I'm afraid that since he broke off the tip, exposing the root, and
sheared much of one face off, the tooth will have to come out. Has
anyone on the list tried root canals, though?
I'm just sick about this. Sniffles saw me walk in the room, spooked,
and ran behind a cage, obviously hitting the wall or the cage and
breaking the tooth. It's senseless, really. Poor guy isn't even a
year old.
One of my older cats recently had an upper canine removed. She's doing
ok, but obviously misses the tooth.
