Surgery is used in humans, but those humans who are prone to glaucoma have a sad tendency to have the problem re-occur so meds are often preferred for humans. The range of medications for humans is a wide one. Some are counter-indicated by other medical problems like asthma.

One thing I would try to avoid with ferrets with a glaucoma history is steroids -- when possible -- in case the remaining eye may be endangered by those. Obviously, there are times when the medical condition that neccesitates steroids outweighs sight, for either ferrets or humans even though that is not an easy choice to make.

I am not a vet or MD.
