Subject: Melatonin questions

I have been giving my ferret Elvis melatonin for about 6 weeks. He has the
classic adrenal hair loss, but when he had exploratory surgery in August my
vet said his adrenals looked normal. I thought I would try the melatonin, so
I bought the liquid form and have been giving him .75 mg a day (in the
evening). He is finally growing some hair back on his stomach where it was
shaved for surgery, however he seems to have lost more hair on his back - he
has almost no undercoat left. Has anyone else ever experienced hair loss
with melatonin? Or do I just need to give it more time?
I would appreciate any advice or insights any of you may have.
