People will be happy to know that, some 3.5 weeks
post-splenectomy/insulinoma surgery, Puff is back up and wardancing. About
a week ago she finally reached the point where she clearly felt well
enough to investigate the outside world again; this week she is impatient
to be out and does her best to terrorize the cat, our feet, and all rugs.

She's still getting baby food 2x/day, but is also eating fine on her own.
I've cut out the Sucralfate and she's only getting .05ml prednisone
1x/day. I've gotten some Proglycem/Diazoxide ($130 for a 50mg/mL, 30mL
bottle. smells like chocolate mint!) and will probably start it after
weaning her completely off the pred and observing her for a while.

I had excellent luck, even when she was the most reluctant to eat, with a
dose of Sucralfate 10m before feeding, and a mixture of Earth's Best Sweet
Potato & Chicken and Gerber's Chicken, well warmed.

In summary, Puff went in Oct 3rd for a splenectomy and insulimona removal.
Post-surgery she exhibited recovery signs for a few days, then declined
and displayed tooth-grinding, shivering, and loss of appetite. She lost
about 100g of weight. She was on .1ml pred, .1ml torbutrol, .1ml
sucralfate, and .5ml amoxicillin, all 2x/day, for about 10 days. She was
then put on .2ml Baytril, we removed the torb and amoxi, gave the
sucralfate before feedings, and started to wean her down off the pred. It
took her fully 3.5 wks post-surgery to be back at what I consider her
'normal' attitude. She is almost 7 yrs old.

Thanks for everyone's help,
Melissa
