Hello Ann-
Is it possible these ferrets are intact ( not neutered or
spayed?). Those who are intact have a more robust oil output and many
folks who are not bothered by altered ferrets do get a rash from handling
intact ferrets- my husband is one of them- he has to make sure he wears
long sleeves when he handles the boys in rut! The intact ferrets will also
present with a much stronger and muskier odor-- which again makes me
wonder. If this is the case- within 30 days of altering the oil in coat and
the odor should subside.

Hope this helps
