It's been a few years since I've had a ferret with
stomach surgery and recovery treatments may have
changed since then. I can't really remember how long
he stayed at the vet after surgery at least one day
but not more than two. He was already eating small
amounts when he came home. The vet gave us some cans
of Hill's food specifically for digestive system
problems, bland and not really designed for long term
use on ferrets. I'm thinking it was I/D rather than
A/D but I could be wrong. We gave him frequent
pea-sized feedings of Nutrical and small amounts of
the Hill's warmed up two or three times a day. After
about a day or two, I started mixing a little baby
food meat into the canned Hill's to make it a little
more tasty for him. I'm thinking it was about a week
before he started getting back to a normal diet and
much activity at all (he was about 6 months at the
time).

That's about the best I can remember. Hope it helps.
