I don't know about third glands, but we just had one go through
surgery who seems to be missing his left gland! He had a free
necrotic mass near his liver that *could* have been the gland if it
had broken free. We're still waiting on the pathology results. It's
unlikely that this guy had the gland previously removed, as his prior
owners didn't even vaccinate him.
He turned out to have a bad right as well, so as far as we know, he
has no adrenal glands left. But with that mysteriously missing left,
it's hard to be sure....
