Zac was put to sleep earlier. Tuesday he had the blockage removed from his
small bowel. Wednesday he had improved a great deal and was eating well.
Thursday my friend took him home where he started acting strangely. He
would hold his head up high, eyes wide open, pull up his lips and breathe
loudly or retch. He looked very stressed, distressed. I took him back to
the vets in the evening where he did the weird breathing as well, more
frequently now. He stayed at the vets over night and this morning he looked
worse and was heard screaming. Vet went back in to see if there was
anything she could do and she found a blood clot, in the abdomen I think,
and removed it. Vet thinks she hit an artery or something when she went in
with a needle/ syringe to remove gas from the stomach Tuesday before the
surgery. But when Zac came round, he was still screaming every now and
again despite pain killers. We went in in the evening and Zac was lying
there looking really ill, his tail was bottle brushed and he'd poofed so my
friend (all of us) decided to have him put him to sleep. Anybody got any
idea what could have gone wrong? Maybe a blood clot in the heart or brain
or lungs? We're all very upset because at first he was doing so well after
surgery and then he went downhill so fast...
