Valerie, I love Bag Balm for my guys. You get it warm in your hands and rub it on AGAINST the fur. You can coat it on thick on areas like the tail. My itchy ferrets have been soothed by this on many occasion. Use it for several days, don't expect a miracle on the first use. Over time the skin becomes softer and smoother. Also, increase water intake by putting ferretone on the water or give pedialyte. this will help with the skin condition, I have observed.

Caution: if there is some reason you shoot not give pedialyte, don't. You may want to check with your vet, but I give it to my nonsurgical candidate adrenal ferrets intermittently.

Oh, I think Sukie likes the olive oil treatment instead of Bag Balm.

renee :)

I found a little green can hiding in the bathroom called Bag Balm. I read the ingredients, and basically *tested* a little bit on her tail. I put some on I think one day, and two days later. on the fifth day it had cleared up and fur was starting to grow.
