You say that he is holding a safe weight and that he active -- that
he is eating but just not as much. Is this correct? If so, given
that he is 6 months old now we may simply have matured enough that he
doesn't need to eat levels that are consistent with growing. If that
is the case then don't force more food on him. Obesity is not
healthy for ferrets.
If he is losing weight and is at a weight range the vet considers
dangerous then you can try finger or spoon feedings of warmed meat
baby food or of a/d. Forget the syringe except in a life and death
emergency situation where the ferret has a chance of rebounding with
food. There is just too much aspiration danger. Rub the new foods
on the ferret's lips for an introduction and let the ferret enjoy it
while you remain calm (Nervousness in the person stops them eating
often.) and speak or sing softly to the ferret.
Try getting rid of that bag in case it is spoiled and try a new one.
