I have never had to check a cortisol level in a ferret. Adrenal gland
disease in ferrets does not affect cortisol levels, usually.
Either this was a very unusual case that required knowledge of cortisol
levels, or you should go back to your vet and have the Tennessee adrenal
panel done.
