Norton is my 7+ yr old female ferret that was diagnosed with intermediate c=
ardiomyopathy on Oct 19th. In addition she has adrenal disease, had a part=
ial pancrectomy (10/2001), elevated BUN (50) and creatinine(2.1 i think) Oc=
t 2002 and very bad teeth. She was hospitlized for several days and came h=
ome on atenolol .5 ml(6.25mg)sid, enalapril .5 ml(.5mg)EOD, Lasix .5ml(1mg)=
was bid, then sid and increased to bid 11/11. She is also on pediapred .15m=
l(3mg/ml). The coughing is nothing as severe as it was when she was in the=
clinic. The lasix was increased because the coughing increased in number =
of occurances and duration. Both exams have revealed clear lungs and a goo=
d heartrate (the last exam was 11/13 am). She is also on clindamycin for h=
er mouth and we just started a pulse dose regimen 5 days on- 5 days off. S=
He's been off since 11/11. I'm having trouble getting her to eat the last =
day. Since she seizured last OCt, I've hand feed her A/D and baby food eve=
ry 6-7 hrs as she won't eat on her own. I don't know if this is a result o=
f the enalapril etc or lack of clindamycin. Any thoughts? Also, my vet to=
ld me not to be concerned about electrolyte imbalance, but I wanted to chec=
k that too. Thanks for any help. I know I'm trying to balance many proble=
ms.
