Hi. I'm new to the list, and I'm hoping to get some advice.

Our 5 yr old ferret, Squeak, has had chronic nausea for weeks now. this all started with what wenow believe to be an acquired allergy to chicken, so he is currently being force-fed a gruel made of IVD green pea and lamb, water, and butter (he won't recognize the kibble as food).

He's nauseous when he wakes, nauseous when eats/drinks. In the last week has lost rear leg function, and had a couple of bloody stools, so we took him to vet.

Vet told me 12cc or more of Pedialyte/day to help rehydrate, gave my a Pepcid generic for nausea (hasn't worked before - tried over a year ago), and Biaxin for possible helicobacter.

Started Biaxin night before last. this a.m. Squeak now is so dehydrated cannot walk properly at all. I'm writing this as I wait to leave to take him to vet. should I have been told to rehydrate subQ? I can't seem to get enough liquid in him!

Has anyone ever seen this kind of nausea before? On Totally Ferret, our other two are fine, but Squeak developed a yellow-mucous diarrhea until we switched him off all things chicken. The nausea developed after that, I think (this has been a long progression; he's always been "nervous" and would get diarrhea from changes in the house or driving in a car since a kit)

Any advice welcome. Bloods done just this week showed sugars ok, most things okay but white blood count up and slight anemia. Afraid to continue on Biaxin while he's dehydrated, but will consult vet.

Thanks - Leslie & Mike (& Squeak, Mr. Socks, and Wooly Bear)
