I can only tell you that, of my 13 ferrets, 6 of them have had violent, lif=
=3De-threatening reactions....mostly to Fervac-D. I have not had as many r=
eac=3Dtions to rabies shots as to the Fervac and now only give Fervac to th=
e anim=3Dals that I am showing that require them. My vet is WELL experienc=
ed and do=3Des NOT premedicate, but watches them VERY, VERY closely for 2-3=
hours (whil=3De we chat at her clinic when she is not busy). She watches =
their gum color=3D and as soon as it starts to fade or they start to vomit =
or exhibit other s=3Digns, she gives them (1) benedryl, then (2) dex and th=
en, if they are still=3D not coming out of it, (3) epi. I had one Senior w=
ho required 3 shots of e=3Dp - one every 20 minutes - and we nearly lost he=
r. Thankfully, she has fin=3Dished her gold championship and that was the =
last of her shots to be given =3Dto her as she won't be shown anymore. If =
EVERY vet who experiences severe =3Dreactions would report them on the FDA =
form for this purpose, perhaps the F=DA can get the vaccine companies to do=
some officical studies on the freque=3Dncies of these very serious reactio=
ns. Interestingly enough, when I used t=3Do give the Galaxy for distemper,=
which is NOT FDA approved, I had very few =3Dreactions, and yet with a vac=
cine that IS FDA approved, I've had horrendous=3D consequences. I don't kn=
ow what the answer is....I personally have had re=ACtions far AFTER 1/2 hou=
r, so I just plan on spending the evening with my =3Dvet when I go. It is =
VERY scary
