Hi all,

First thanks to everyone who responded to me both here and in email. All your suggestions were helpful and the support was great!

Thought I would give a brief update. Herc is doing fractionally better. He has some semi-good days and some lousy ones but, over-all, he is having more good days than bad.

We switched him to lamb (from chicken baby food) and he appears to be doing better with that. He likes it a little more and isn't having seedy stools. The one time I tried him on chicken, to see if it was just a fluke, he immediate had seedy stools. I'm taking that as a sign. His stools are still mostly diarrhea - to soft cow pud - so he's getting some pepto bismol to see if I can clear that up.

There is very little chewing going on after eating, and I haven't seen any suspicious stools (based on smell because of course the pepto turns the stools dark by itself). He's getting carafate 4 times a day.

His pred is down to 2mg/day and we are gradually aiming to get it to 1mg/day.

He loves the heavy cream (which I finally found)but I am reluctant to give him much because of the diarrhea. Anyone know if it, like all milk products, can cause diarrhea?

Again thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions!

Linda K
