Hi everyone,
I am new to the group, owned by 4 adorable ferrets, one of whom is a very sick little boy at the moment.
Started approx 1 week ago, noticed weight loss and lethargy.
Progressively got worse, not eating, occasional vomiting and mucusy poops. Took him to the vet 1 who suspected a viral stomach infection, prescribed nothing and suggested to closely monitor him and syringe fluids if not drinking.
He actually started to improve for a day or 2, no more vomiting & his poops were looking more like normal. Suddenly, he went down hill again.
Took him to vet 2, after a very thorough exam, the vet once again suspects a viral infection either in the bowell or stomach - Prescribed Clavulox 0.2mg 3 times a day.
3 days later, still no improvement, he actually is showing a little interest in his food for the short periods that he is awake, but vomiting soon after eating.
The vet didn't suspect a blockage as he is pooping regularly however if he hasn't improved by Tuesday wants to see him again & we may have to look at surgery.

He seems so weak at the moment, I feel really worried to have him put under, he is only about 9 months old and was so full of beans until a week ago. If anyone has any suggestions or advice it would be much appreciated.

Jodie
