Herc was put down last night. His ulcer apparently degraded into a vein in his stomach and he was suddenly passing huge amounts of blood through his stools. There was nothing we could do to stop it and at midnight we gave up trying and admitted defeat.
He was a noble warrior to the very end and I will miss him desperately.
Despite that I want to again thank you all for your help and suggestions.
