Did you take her back so the vet could do a necropsy? I am surprised a vet would send an animal home post-surgery who is still "out of it". In August, Dillon had adrenal surgery. He was perky and eating after surgery and Doc let me bring him home. Later that evening, he seemed very lethargic and somewhat comatose. I called the vet's office (24-hour emergency) and told the tech I was on the way. Dillon died before we even could get out of the house. I still went to the office and we called my vet at home. He was totally shocked and came in at 11:00 to open Dillon up to see what had happened. It turns out he had DIC (disseminated intravascular coagulation); he bled out. This is apparently one of those things that can't be foreseen. I am so glad that we opened him up or I would have forever been distrustful of my vet doing further surgeries. He also wanted to make sure he hadn't messed up.

My boyfriend and I cleaned her stitches since she kept having drainage from her stitches. When I got up this morning she had past away. I was told later today that she pasted away from shock.
