Subject: Causes of Helicobater

Where and how can a ferret contract Helicobacter? Does anyone know? I
know that a vast amount of ferrets have this bacteria living in side of them
and that their immune systems keep it "at bay"? Is that correct? So is a
ferret born with this bacteria living in them, and then something triggers it
to go hog wild into a massive infection or what? Or is it something that
they can "contract" by a contagion?
Once a ferret is properly medicated, and cured.... then is it "gone"?
Or can it come back (on its own without reinfection by environment)? Once a
ferret has gone through a very rough case of this, are they prone to any
problems in the future?
And the most important question for me... can stress bring on any sort
of ill effects, or the disease itself once again later on? We don't know if
he had ulcers or not with this, we suspect so, although he had no bleeding.
IF stress can hurt him later on in some way, what constitutes stress besides
a new animal being around (which won't happen)? Can going out on car trips
be too stressful?
