Yesterday we were at the vets'. We wanted to get a Lupron shot for
Sevie because her ascites has worsened again and despite getting 6
mgs a day orally she needed more. (Came home with some injectable
for her, too. Good news is that her sores have left again and she's
still around and still moving mousies after 5 and 1/2 months with
Level 3 A/V Node Block and her assorted meds.)
Glueball (approaching 5 years in age) who has never had any health
problems at all other than reacting strongly to multiple CDV vaccines
went in, too, because she has a large spleen which has now produced a
nodule and we wanted to do her blood work, pre-surgically. Didn't
x-ray her chest last night because of two emergency dogs who needed
that equipment - both in really bad situations. Anyway, Glueball's
blood turns out the clot almost immediately. Two vials of blood had
to be tossed because they clotted too fast for the compound in the
vials to work, but they got enough blood for testing. Neither of the
vets there had ever encountered blood that clots so fast, so I am
curious if anyone else has seen this and if so if you found that
there are any special types of monitoring or precautions we need to
take into account for her throughout her life because of it.
