Subject: Bright Red Paw Pads and Nose

My 8 year old boy just spent 3 days at the vets, due to a 'plugged' bladder. (Cause was crystals, no infection and no prostrate involvement)

He had to be anesthetized to catheter him, so some trauma there as well.

He is home now, but....I noticed at the vet's and still here at home, his paw pads, nose, and tail, etc. are bright red. Vet said she thought it was from being in an incubator with temp set at 75. The ferret room here is kept at 70, so that is not the problem.

He is on two meds....Baytril and Clavamox, nothing else.

Oh...I doubt this has anything to do with it but....she has also put him on a specific diet of Hill's Prescription Diet s/d, which will help dissolve any crystals still in the bladder. (It is a bear getting him to eat the stuff...after 8 years, he is not real keen on changing his food preferences!)

Any suggestions as to why the 'flushed' condition?

Thanks...
