I know that some folks are following what happens with Sevie. Her
ascites is very difficult to control now and we have injectable Lasix
as well to keep her comfort level good. She is wearing down, but we
can keep her comfy, so hopefully she'll just pass peacefully though
she'll have a mercy shot if she needs one. Her heart rate is low
enough (in the 50s) that it is surprising that she is still is pink,
warm usually, walking around, and most days shifting around toy
mousies at least once a day. Mostly she sleeps now. I guess that
she has helped with Shelley Knudsen's little one to show that A/V
Heart Node Block can be managed long term with meds. Shelley's
little one has been going for about a year with level 2 that has at
times slipped into Level 3, and Seven had a mostly marvelously happy
(except for taking meds), and pain free 5 and 1/2 months so far with
Level 3. If anything comes out of this it should be that if the
individual is not so close to passing of something else that
treatment would be needlessly stressful then this is a condition that
is well worth treating in ferrets.
