Subject: Anemia and imuran

We have a 6 1/2 year old albino female ferret who developed severe anemia w=
hich was first diagnosed about 10 weeks ago. She was transfused once at tha=
t time and put on predisone. Both the marrow and spleen were producing red =
cells but they were very deficient in the blood stream. She was put on Imur=
an about 4 weeks ago without diminishing the predisone dosage, which is at =
the high end of the range. Her color seems to be coming back and she will g=
et a blood test later today.
However, she seems much more lethargic than before starting the Imuran. She=
eats duck soup with relish but seems uncomfortable eating solid food. =
Has anyone else had experience with anemia and the Imuran treatment? I'd ap=
preciate any comments.
