It is possible that this is something along the line of IBD
(Inflammatory Bowel Disease) which can be secondary to some
infections, including ECE. Scooter here will respond short term to
antibiotics and then have trouble again. The meds that work for IBD
vary among individuals and some (like Scooter have some meds work for
a while and then new approaches are needed). Right now he's doing
well enough on Prednisolone. We've had him on an assortment of
anti-inflammatories, chemo, and antibiotics, sometimes in
combination, for a very long time now. Experiences vary depending on
the individual. In Scooter's case a GI malformation makes him harder
than some.

Of course, there are also other possible causes that are worth
considering like infectious causes such as ECE.
