Dear Christy, Losing hair at the base of the tail does not nescessarily mean
your ferret has adrenal disease. At 3 years old that's fairly young to get
it, at least here in the UK. There are many reasons for tail hair loss.
Seasonal Alopecia, injection site reaction, insect bite reaction and stress
are just 4 that it might also be. I have an albino jill that came to me
covered in ticks, no hair and diarrohea. After clearing her of the ticks her
hair started to grow back within days. She is now one of my top ferrets.
Have a look at the medical sites on FHL for info on adrenal and hairloss
and, to set your mind at rest, take her to the vets for a check-up. You may
be worrying needlessly.
