I've mentioned using compounded diazoxide a few times. My Mojo gave his
approval to the Tutti-Fruity flavor. My vet has called in prescriptions
for it to Franck's Pharmacy in Florida - they ship. Their website, with
phone numbers, is http://www.francks.com/ I'm sure that other compounding
pharmacies could work out as well - there is a list at:

Now, about the expense. You might want to see if you can get a small
amount of it to start with. The price per mg of the compounded stuff
works out much cheaper per mg than the brand-name, but I have always
purchased big bottles of it, which winds up costing more than $100 anyway.
But it lasts a long time, and I have several with insulinoma, so I will
definitely use it all. SO, do make sure that the amount of drug is
specified when the call is made, so that just in case your guy doesn't
respond to it, you haven't payed for a whole bunch of it.

My vet has a bottle of proglycem/diazoxide at her clinic, and when
starting a new patient on it, she will just dispense a little bit and
charge the client for just those few ml's to try out. Then if the fuzzy
responds, they work out how to get their prescription filled, but if the
fuzzy doesn't repond, the client is only out a little bit of money. I'm
not saying all vets can do this. My point is that with this drug, where
you're not totally sure it will work in each case, it can pay off to be a
little cautious on a large initial investment, if possible. I've found
that it usually takes about 2-3 days of twice-daily dosing to see if it's
going to help.

Good luck!
