Both of these problems sound like symptoms of adrenal disease, which is best treated with surgical removal of the affected adrenal gland. If your ferrets is not a good surgical candidate, you can use Lupron or melatonin, but these do not remove the problem, they just mask the symptoms.
If you search the FHL archives on adrenal disease, you can find a lot of discussion about it.
