Hi, everyone,
Thank you for all the responses. Podo is currently asymptomatic and
tolerating the prednisone better than before. Our vet wants to monitor
his glucose for now and make a decision at an appointment on the 22nd.
All but two of the e-mails I received felt surgery now was the best
course to follow. I have decided to wait and see what the vet wants to
do on the 22nd and I will probably trust his judgement one way or
another. I am a bit more comfortable with allowing surgery if he
decides it's necessary.
Kodo, the other older guy with insulinoma, is more active but is still
far from his old self -- no jumping or running or playing or going
through the tunnels. He still has hind leg weakness but is able to get
around a whole lot better. Again, I'll let our vet decide whether to
try increasing his pred (which is still at a significantly lower dosage
than Podo's) or else go ahead with surgery for both.
I'll post again in about 10 days on their progress.
All the best,
Caity and the naughty nine
