Dear Rebecca:

These always look worse than they are. Usually I recommend washing it off and clipping the hair to get a good look at it. I never can tell the extent until the hair is all clipped away.

However, all amputations should be done by the vet, not by nature. Clean amputations always heal so much better. But let's cross that bridge when we get to it.

I also have a 6.5 year old with asthma. The only treatment, which many
disagree with, is children's Benedryl. I only use it if Critter is having
a bad day. He doesn't gasp much, but does have lower energy and a little
harder time breathing than the rest. I run a humidifier for him 24/7 and
it seems to help. I would love to hear other folks ideas as well. I
posted my issue here and got very little info.
