Subject: Is it normal?

My ferret with helicobactor and probable ulcers is at the very end of
his antibiotics... they lasted more than two weeks. He still is only eating
chicken baby food. If he tries to eat it too soon after giving carafate (if
i make the mistake of rushing to feed him), he will grind still. I'm a bit
surprised that he still has some pain when he eats occasionally. I realize
he needs the bland diet for a month if I can swing that. But is it normal
for him to actually be grinding on occasion, and if he stops his meds, will
he continue to get better? I'm a bit taken back by how long this is taking,
and how tenecious this disease is.
Just so you know he's had biaxin/amoxy/carafate and a bland diet only.
He has gained back a great amount of weight, but not really much muscle. He
still needs the muscle and he needs more weight. He acts absolutely fine now
with a lot of energy.
When he runs out of those three meds is that it? Then I just need to do
the bland diet thing and he will continue to heal? Will he be alright when
he runs out of the carafate?
