It is likely to be stress-related if it coincided
with your absence. In and of itself, it's no big
deal. Wash the affected area with mild soap and a
soft toothbrush. SOme people use stridex or other
mild benzoilperoxide-containing stuff. If she's
really attached to you, though (rescues often are) I
would really suggest that you try to find a way to
take her with you, or hire a pet sitter to come watch
them in your home. If she is stressed by your
absence, she may react very badly to being at the
kennel around other animals. I have one that has
gotten seriously ill every time I have boarded her
(massive bowel issues, dehydration, weeks of
antibiotics and supplements -- I am totally not
kidding!) - vet says it's just stress, and that I
cannot board her any more, because it keeps getting
worse. She does a lot better when I leave her home
with a sitter checking on her. That's the burden of
being a well-loved ferret owner!
Best of luck
Melissa
