I was going to wait a while longer before posting this as it seemed a little
too good to be true, but after the above comment the time seems right <g>:

*Both* my ferrets started regrowing hair after 4 days of being kept in as
much darkness as possible.

My female albino had bilateral surgery nearly 2 years ago at only a year old
-- she bounced right back but never regrew any hair, and in fact, lost much
more. She started Lupron treatment a year ago and still failed to grow new
hair. My 3 year old guy had a difficult bilateral a year ago, eventually
came through but, again, continued to lose hair. At the beginning of this
month we were back at the vets for check-ups and Lupron, and the doctor and I
were considering melatonin treatment in the new year, as well as Lupron for
the male ferret. The doc mentioned trying to keep their world as dark as
possible having heard a couple of anecdotal stories -- so, I gave it a go,
and . . . . 4 days later . . . the little buggers both had stubble!

New hair is continuing to come in ~
